Product type: Kerbside-recyclable barrier paper
Barrier level: High — oxygen and water vapour
Best for: Coffee, chips, cookies
Disposal: Kerbside and office paper recycling
Print: Available as a custom-printed substrate
Minimum order: Scoped at quote
Metallised Hydropol gives a high barrier against oxygen and water vapour whilst enabling full paper fibre recycling. It is designed to recycle just like plain paper, so consumers and businesses can dispose of it in their company and kerbside recycling streams.
The aluminium converts to aluminium oxide and hydroxide, an inert and common mineral. The Hydropol layer dissolves and breaks down during wastewater treatment with no microplastics left, and full paper fibre yield is recovered with no macro stickies.

How is it recycled?
Place it in your company or kerbside paper recycling. The Hydropol layer dissolves and breaks down during wastewater treatment with no microplastics left, and full paper fibre yield is recovered.
What happens to the aluminium?
The ultra-thin aluminium converts to aluminium oxide and hydroxide, an inert and common mineral.
Is it compostable?
These papers are designed for paper recycling, not composting. Recyclability is the benefit, so dispose of them with your paper stream.
How does it compare with metallised paper?
Both give a high barrier for coffee, chips and cookies. On Metallised Hydropol the ultra-thin aluminium converts to inert aluminium oxide, while on metallised paper the metal particles are caught on reject screens.
Can I get it printed and made up?
Yes. These papers can be supplied as the substrate for your custom-printed flexible packaging, a recyclable barrier structure with your branding.
Can I get samples?
Yes. Request samples and a quote and we will recommend the right grade for your product.
