How Pallet Covers Support Warehouse Workflows+

Pallet covers fit into the workflow at any point between palletising and final dispatch. Once a pallet is loaded and wrapped, the cover slips over the top and drops down over the sides. The gusseted design means the cover sits flat against the load without bunching, keeping the pallet profile clean for stacking and racking. This takes seconds per pallet and requires no tools, tape or heat sealing.

During storage, covers protect goods from dust accumulation, moisture ingress and incidental contact damage. In facilities where pallets sit in open racking or floor storage for extended periods, this protection prevents quality issues that lead to rework, returns or customer complaints. Colour-coded covers add a visual identification layer, allowing teams to distinguish product lines, priority shipments or quarantine holds at a glance.

At dispatch, covers stay in place during forklift loading and transport. For outdoor staging areas or open-sided loading docks, they provide a weather barrier that stretch wrap alone does not offer. The cover is removed by the receiver or left in place for ongoing protection, depending on the supply chain requirements. This simple addition to the packing process reduces damage claims and maintains product presentation through the final delivery point.

Pallet Covers vs Stretch Wrap Alone+

Stretch wrap secures the load to the pallet but leaves the top exposed to dust, moisture and debris. Pallet covers provide full top-down protection that stretch wrap alone cannot achieve. The gusseted bag format creates a sealed envelope around the entire load, blocking dust ingress through the top surface and protecting exposed sides. For goods stored outdoors, in open warehouses or in facilities with high dust levels, a pallet cover over stretch wrap delivers a complete protection system. Covers also apply faster than adding extra layers of stretch wrap to the top, and the single-piece design means no wrapping equipment is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size pallet cover do I need?+

Measure the length, width and height of your loaded pallet. The cover dimensions are listed as Length x Width + Gusset. The gusset expands to accommodate the height and depth of the load. For a standard Australian pallet (1165 x 1165mm), the 2000mm length covers will work for most full-height loads. For oversize or extra-tall pallets, choose the 2200mm or 2245mm options. If you are unsure, contact our team and we can recommend the right size for your pallet configuration.

Can pallet covers be used with stretch wrap?+

Yes. Pallet covers work well as an outer layer over stretch-wrapped pallets. The stretch wrap secures the load to the pallet, while the cover adds dust and moisture protection across the top and sides. This combination is common in warehouses where pallets are stored in open areas or staged outdoors before dispatch.

Are pallet covers waterproof?+

LDPE film is water-resistant and will protect against rain splash, condensation and light moisture exposure. However, these covers are not sealed at the bottom and are not designed for full waterproof protection in heavy rain or submersion. For temporary outdoor storage, they provide effective protection against typical weather conditions. For extended outdoor exposure, consider securing the base with tape or stretch wrap for additional protection.

Why choose black pallet covers?+

Black pallet covers block UV light and visible light, making them the best choice for light-sensitive goods such as chemicals, adhesives, photographic materials and certain food products. They also conceal the contents of the pallet for added security during transport and storage. If your goods are not light-sensitive, natural or blue covers will provide the same dust and moisture protection.

Can I use these covers in cold storage or freezers?+

Yes. LDPE remains flexible at low temperatures, making these covers suitable for cold rooms and freezer environments. They help protect palletised goods from condensation that forms when pallets move between temperature zones. The covers maintain their integrity and do not become brittle in cold conditions.

Are these covers recyclable?+

Yes. LDPE pallet covers are recyclable through soft plastics recycling programs. Check with your local waste service provider for collection options. Many commercial waste services include soft plastics recycling as part of their standard offering. Clean, dry covers should be bundled together for collection to keep them out of general waste streams.

What is the difference between pallet covers and pallet shrink bags?+

These LDPE pallet covers are loose-fitting gusseted bags that drape over the pallet. They do not require heat to apply. Pallet shrink bags are made from shrink film and require a heat source to shrink-wrap tightly around the load. Our covers are designed for quick application without equipment, making them ideal for high-throughput warehouses where speed and simplicity are priorities.
